How this directory works
Every registry here comes from the Government of Alberta registry agent finder, which lists the official address, phone and email of each licensed agent. We add opening hours only when the registry publishes them on its own website, and we say so when it does not. Road test status comes from the province's list of registries that book Class 5 and 6 tests. Fees come from the official product catalogue. We are an independent site and are not part of the government or any registry. Found something out of date? Tell us.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find a registry near me?
Use the "Use my location" button above, or type your town. You get the six closest registry agents with distance, phone and whether they are open right now. Every listing comes from the Government of Alberta registry agent finder.
What is an Alberta registry?
Alberta does not run its own driver's licence offices. Instead, private businesses licensed by the province, called registry agents, handle driver's licences, ID cards, vehicle registration and plates, road test bookings and other government records. See what a registry agent does.
Are registries open on Saturday?
Many are. Of the registries that publish their hours online, 86 open on Saturday and 19 on Sunday. See registries open Saturday and open Sunday.
How much does it cost to renew a driver's licence in Alberta?
A 5-year licence is a $90.00 government fee plus up to $13.65 registry service charge: $103.65 at most. Shorter terms cost less. See all registry fees.
Do all registries charge the same?
Government fees are identical everywhere. For capped products like licences, ID cards and vehicle registrations, registries can charge up to a provincial maximum service charge. Road tests and some searches are uncapped, so prices vary between registries.
Can I renew my licence online?
At the time of our last check, the Government of Alberta listed online driver's licence and ID card renewal as temporarily unavailable, so renewals are done at a registry. Eligible passenger vehicle registrations can still be renewed online.
